My exhibition 'Views from a Speeding Train' has been previewed by Penny Modra in The Sunday Age 'M' magazine.

Upcoming Solo Exhibition in Melbourne at Jenny Port Gallery
During December my exhibition 'Views from a Speeding Train' will be on at Jenny Port Gallery in Richmond. The opening will be on Wednesday 3rd December from 6pm-8pm and the exhibition will continue until December 21st.
The show will include a number of pieces that have recently been selected for Art Prizes (including those shown below) and will be the first time the series 'Views from a Speeding Train' will be shown in it's entirety.

Selected as finalist in the 2008 Fleurieu Art Prize, with "View from a Speeding Train" The Fleurieu Art Prize is part of the 2008 Fleurieu Biennale held on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia from the 7th to the 30th November 2008

Finalist in the 2008 John Leslie Art Prize - Shifting Landscape, Focusing on the Natural World, Gippsland Gallery, Sale with "View from a Speeding Train 5 (Barcelona to Nice)" From the John Leslie Art Prize 2008 catalogue essay 'The Fall into Understanding' written by Briony Nainby:
"Amanda van Gils' View from a Speeding Train 5 (Barcelona to Nice) captures half seen impressions of light and movement, creating ambiguous and otherworldly spaces. Forms dissolve, placing viewers in a position of spatial uncertainty, which, rather than representing the sublime, creates an experience of it."

The John Leslie Art Prize runs from 4th October to 16th November 2008. More details here
